WiMAX
Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) technology enables the delivery of wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and ADSL in Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs).
It makes broadband available to both businesses and consumers at affordable prices. WiMAX provides fixed, nomadic, portable, and eventually mobile wireless broadband connectivity without the need for direct line-of-sight to a base station.
The WiMAX systems have enough bandwidth to simultaneously support hundreds of businesses with high speed connectivity. The standard also enables potential for new business models including subscription, pay as you go and international roaming.
Ultimately, WiMAX gives consumers and businesses alike choice. Gone are the days where connection to the internet were dependant on devices and the costly connection of each one. In a WiMAX environment, subscribers can connect to the internet with a single subscription where ever there is coverage.

Voice over Internet Protocol – (VoIP)
What is VoIP?
VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol. VoIP is simply using the internet to make and receive calls instead of the plain old telecom system. The technology was first commercially released and used way back in 1995. In technology terms, it’s quite old. Being a service with such vintage means it is tried and true. Many organizations, large and small use VoIP because of its ease of use and tremendous cost savings. In many cases, calls are made and received for free! Moreover, when calls are made part of the internet environment, users have more options of how to mange their calls. Application developers can create and manage the calls much more easily than if they are in the old phone network. All of these advancements ultimately mean better choice and cheaper options for consumers.
Setting up VoIP systems is still relatively difficult to do. Evoshift is there to help. As it is our goal to have technology work for customers and not the other way around, we will assist you and your company when setting up the solution. When you are an Evoshift customer, we help you save money every step of the way.
Virtual Private Branch eXchange (vPBX)
What is a vPBX?
Evoshift’s virtual PBX (vPBX) is a web-based, hosted service which is offered as part of the Evoshift telecom offering. Evoshift’s vPBX is directed towards small businesses. In short, Evoshift vPBX users are able to access, manage and change call management functionality through a web browser. The old way of doing business is to have a lot of big servers in a back room doing everything for you with respect to call transferring, etc. The new way is the Evoshift way – have someone else host it and keep your office clean!
Most traditional telecom companies charge exorbitant rates to offer this type of service. Back in the day, these systems were in deed difficult to set up and maintain. Today, on the other hand, the cost of managing and deploying a service such as this has dropped to the point where Evoshift view this service as simply a feature of what a telephone service should be. Again, Evoshift aim to be our client’s trusted adviser in communication. By adding a virtual PBX offering to our telecom service, we are implementing action into our promises!
